I adored Margaret! You are so lucky to have worked with her. She was an amazing lady and so inspirational to me as well. She would always say to me, “Barbara – pace yourself. This isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon.” And didn’t she know! I keep a picture of her with me on my desk – whenever I feel weary, it reminds me that I have many more years before I reach the number that she devoted to making change. I was honored with the Margaret Byrd Rawson Lifetime Achievement Award from IDA and that meant the world to me. I feel so privileged to have had the opportunity to be personally touched by her passionate dedication to individuals with dyslexia. Margaret will always be a great inspiration for me and for so many others.
